Beyond the Bell
Lower School
Students arrive as early as 7:05 am for our before care program. Students are provided with a comfortable, safe and caring environment to start their school day. Students can come every day or drop in as needed.
The fun and learning continue long after the dismissal bell! Students can take part in our aftercare program whether they are full day or half day students. Our half day students attend Tiger Pride and stay for lunch with friends, have some rest time, and then enjoy enriching activities. Our Elementary students can go to Homework Room before pursuing other activities such as outdoor play, arts and crafts, and other hands-on activities. At all levels, teachers create experiences so that learning goes beyond the classroom. Parents can sign their child up for one of our aftercare plans or students can drop in as needed.
Our extracurricular programs for younger students are unmatched by any other school in the area. These offerings provide children with the opportunity to ignite their imagination, pursue their passions, and develop skills in a variety of areas including the arts, athletics, and humanities.
Do you sometimes feel like a chauffeur all summer? Take one child to drama camp, drop off for basketball, and then take one to math tutoring. If you don’t want to spend all summer in the car then our summer camp is exactly what you need! We have tons of offerings so that every child can find something they love!
Junior High
Student Life is an integral component in the Junior High School. Students are encouraged to take part in various clubs, chaperoned social activities, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
Annual field trips include day and overnight programs designed to enhance curricular and spiritual growth. Seventh graders embark upon an overnight fieldtrip each year as well as more local visits such as the Brevard Zo
o and the Moore Justice Center. Eighth grade visits Washington D.C. to enhance the American History program and a Shakespearean theatre to enrich eighth grade literature.
In addition, seventh and eighth graders have opportunity to get involved in
- Monthly “Game Nights” on campus, which fosters social skills and allows students to relate to each other in a more relaxed environment.
- Two more formal occasions annually: Homecoming and a Valentine’s Day Dance.
- Student organizations: Student Government, National Junior Honor Society, the Junior High Honor Council, and the Junior High Literary Magazine.
- Comprehensive athletic program. Qualified Junior High students may also participate as members of the Freshmen, Junior Varsity, or Varsity teams.
After School Program (3:15pm - 5:00 pm)
After a long day of classes Junior High students are allowed twenty-five minutes of free time. During this time they may purchase a snack from our concession stand, meet with teachers for extra help, visit with friends or simply enjoy some quiet time. At 3:15 pm until 5:00 pm students will be supervised in a quiet classroom setting where they can complete their homework and prepare for the next day’s academic classes. A teacher is available to answer questions and provide academic assistance during this study time. Following this time period students may interact socially, visit the library or participate in such activities as chess and checkers. Parents may complete the Supervised Study Application to allow their child to participate on a daily or drop-in basis.
Senior High
We make sure that students find the right balance between learning inside and outside of the classroom. Field study and hands-on learning opportunities are encourage and have included astronomy class stargazing, ecology and marine science field trips, Disney’s YES (Youth Education Series), Kennedy Space Center, theater events, and the Brevard Zoo sponsored relocation of Scrub Jay families. Trips abroad reinforce world language skills, ecological and natural world wonders, and cultural understanding. Fine arts students participate in various band, choral, and drama competitions and art shows.
Student success is built through participation and students are exposed to a wide variety of academic and extra-curricular clubs as well as extracurricular activities. Primarily using faculty as the sponsors and coaches, the variety of Upper School opportunities range from 30 athletic teams, to 35 academic clubs including seven honor societies and service-based organizations like Interact.
