Benefit Concert Organized by HTEA Junior

Hojoon Choi, ’14 HTEA student and cellist extraordinaire, organized a concert to benefit HTEA's sister school in Haiti, St. Sacrement in Fond Parisien last Sunday in the Scott Center for Worship and the Performing Arts at HTEA's Upper School. Members of the Capriccioso String Quartet as well as the Brevard Children’s Chorus Ensemble played solos as well as finished the concert with Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet. HTEA students who performed that day were Joon Choi: cello, Evan Ristow: violin, and seventh grade singers Christy Chadwick and Katy Wacaster. The concert was sponsored by the HTEA chapter of Tri-M, the national music honor society.

Alex Brown '13 Chooses Columbia

After visiting multiple schools, HTEA Cross Country Champ Alex Brown '13 has decided to run for Columbia University. HTEA alum Kyle Cook, who also went to Columbia, shared his experiences and advice with Alex, further solidifying his decision. The recruiting process was tough but Alex is excited about the exciting prospects his future with Columbia University holds.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's track team is working hard toward their goal to be state champs across the board. Last year, the boys were state champs and the girls were runners-up. This year, they strive to both be at at the top and Coach Baily says they have a real chance of making it!

Bionic Tigers Overcome the Odds
3/12/2013

After a car accident destroys their robots on the way to Regionals in Orlando, the Bionic Tigers rallied together with Team 801 (Horsepower) to rebuild. The Bionic Tigers overcame the odds to place 7th and receive additional awards including Alliance Captain, Quarterfinals of the Elimination Matches, Entrepreneurship, and Hard Hat Pin! Congrats to both teams!

Winter Break Mission Trip

A group of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy students chose to spend their Winter Break lending a hand to those in need. They went on a mission trip with Rev. Joy Willard-Williford to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and worked with Habitat for Humanity to rebuild homes lost in the tornadoes of 2011. Get the full story in Florida Today

Robert Morgan Qualifies for STATE!

Congratulations to Robert Morgan '14 on being the first member of the Holy Trinity Dive Team to make it to State, not to mention the first male member of the Swimming and Diving team to move to this level since 2005. Robert has made Holy Trinity Swimming and Diving history and should be acknowledge for his efforts and supported in his diving endeavors at the state meet later this week.

The Bionic Tigers score another big win! The team participated in the Panther Prowl robotics competition held at Florida Tech this past Saturday, and came in first place. They competed against 22 other teams from around the state of Florida. The Tigers are particularly proud of this accomplishment, since both the first and second place teams/robots at the World Championships last season also participated in the tournament. Congratulations Robotics Team!

Varsity Volleyball Victorious!

HTEA Varsity Volleyball defeats Harmony on Wednesday in three games by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19! It was the first defeat of the season for Harmony. Full story and see pics from the game



Another Big Win!

Tigers are victorious for the third week in a row! HTEA Varsity Football is now 3-0 after a 51-0 win over Masters Academy this weekend. They played a great game throughout with an especially dominate third quarter. Way to go Tigers!

Isabela Rovira ‘14 receives Fine Arts Award
8/21/2012

Isabela Rovira received the Fine Arts Award on August 3, for Motion Picture Arts in Animation at Interlochen Arts Camp, the world’s premier summer arts program for aspiring artists in grades 3 - 12!

Isabela's animated film, Prelude No. 1, is named after George Gershwin’s composition of the same name, and features a piano performance by Zachary Page from Bethesda, Maryland. The animation film was created using a method called rotoscoping. Each scene was filmed and edited while being broken down into individual frames. Isabela hand drew each of the 3000 frames!

Among the distinguished Camp alumni are Norah Jones, singer Josh Groban, members of the band OK Go, Rufus Wainwright, opera and concert soprano Jessye Norman, conductor Loren Maazel, jazz pianist Eldar, actor Anthony Rapp, cartoonist Cathy Guisewite and many more. Approximately ten percent of the nation’s professional orchestra musicians have roots at Interlochen and the alumni community has been awarded 89 Grammy Awards.

 

 

 

 

Isabel Carmona '13 Volleyball Standout!

Way to go Isabel! She has been selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as an elite rising senior high school volleyball student-athlete and will be recognized on the 2012 Under Armour Watch List.

Also, she was selected #4 in the Brighthouse Sports Network Top 20 H.S. Player Countdown!

Taken from an article in Florida Today, the following describes What's Happening in High School Sports at HTEA:

"Holy Trinity

Athletic Director Lenny Paoletti and College Placement Director Allison Bell will conduct a free seminar to teach students how to get recruited to play college athletics on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Scott’s Center on the Holy Trinity campus. This seminar is open to all students and parents who would like to attend.

Last year, Holy Trinity graduated 71 students and sent 15 of them to play college sports, which is 21 percent of the senior class."

HTEA Cross Country runners and Coach Butler dominated the Kickoff 5K in Viera this past Saturday. The race served as a "tune-up of sorts" and allowed the runners to get a feel for where they'll stand in the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Christian Teather '13 receives Congressional Medal

Christian TeatherHT senior Christian Teather received a Congressional Award Gold Medal! The award, established in 1979 recognizing initiative, achievement and service in young people, was presented to 277 young adults this year. Among the requirements to earn the medal are a minimum of 400 volunteer hours, a 200 hour commitment to Personal Development and Physical Fitness, and a 4 night minimum expedition into an area new to them.

Teather volunteered with Operation Hope and spent last summer at the Mexican Consulate to the US in Orlando helping immigrants with matriculation. Teather also studied classical piano to qualify three years in a row for the Florida State Federation of Music Competition and became the Florida State Champion in Track racing.

Ryan Allison '13 sets Junior Tour Record

On Monday, HTEA Senior, Ryan Allison, set the new record on the Space Coast Junior Golf Tour (JGT), with a 2-under 70 at the Suntree Country Club. It was also his own personal best! Still, he feels he could have done better.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G That's how you spell Stuti Mishra!!

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy rising 9th grader, Stuti Mishra, is 2nd in the Nation when it comes to spelling! Last night, in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, Stuti spelled word after word correctly to breeze through 11 rounds. In the 12th, she missed the tricky word, "schwarmerei" but had already made it to second place. We are so proud!

Stuti Makes Semifinals! Again!

The Scripps National Spelling Bee started yesterday, May 30, and Stuti correctly spelled "Echt" right off the bat. She then went on to qualify for the semifinal rounds, scheduled for today at 10am. Kayla Hale, State Camp and Hall of Famer

5 time State Champion in Track and Field and a Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Kayla Hale '09 is clearly driven. During her time on the HTEA track team, Kayla even made Class 1A history by winning two individual events for the first time ever! Then, she did it again!

Next Stop: World Championships!

The Bionic Tigers FIRST Robotics Team 1592 has had another momentous win at the South Florida Regional competition held March 28 – 30, which included 43 teams from around the world. With this victory the Bionic Tigers have succeeded in winning both of the Florida FIRST Robotics Regionals!  To top it off, the Bionic Tigers won the Entrepreneurship Award for developing an outstanding business plan that enabled the team to effectively manage the technical challenges, outreach activities, fundraising, and budget. The team will now move on to the World Championships held in St. Louis at the end of this month.

Marcus Maye '12 a Stand-out in All-American Game

Marcus Maye'12 shined in last night's Under Armour All-American High School football game! His biggest play, an amazing blocked punt in the third quarter going through the back of the end zone for a safety and increasing his team's lead to 22-3. That's not all, he also racked up five tackles, two assists, and a fumble recovery in the first half!

Holy Trinity Senior, Marcus Maye, goes All American

Wednesday morning, students were abuzz as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Senior, Marcus Maye, was presented with an Under Armour All America jersey during a special surprise ceremony in Chapel!

Marcus has been spotlighted as one of the nations top high school football players and will play in the 2012 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game presented by American Family Insurance on January 5 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Tickets will go on sale this month or you can watch the game on ESPN!

After the ceremony, students returned to class and Marcus stayed for interviews by Fox 13, ESPN, and more!
