The annual Winter Break Mission Trip provides a wonderful way for students to stretch their “service muscles” by devoting their holiday time to service in a community of need, and have loads of fun while they are at it. In February 2014, students and chaperones will travel to Miami to engage in a variety of service projects there. Previous trips and partnering organizations have been:
2013 – Tuscaloosa, Alabama, partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build homes
2012 - New York City, partnered with NYC Relief Bus and worked with the homeless
2011 - New Orleans, partnered with Episcopal Community Services of Louisiana to do post-Katrina demolition and reconstruction work
2010 - Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, partnered with Mission on the Bay doing post-Katrina cleanup work.
In addition to the Winter Break trip, in 2011 students enjoyed an abbreviated service trip combined with a 3-day spiritual retreat at Camp Wingmann, the Episcopal Camp near Avon Park, Florida.
New in 2014! Pilgrimage to Haiti!
- Over Spring Break, a small group of students will travel to Haiti. This is a unique and transformative opportunity to nurture and deepen our existing school-to-school partnership with the students and faculty of St. Sacrement School in the small village of Fond Parisien. Students will directly experience the vibrant culture of Haiti, learn about its fascinating history, practice their newly developed Creole skills, and engage in worship and a variety of fun music, art, and sports activities with the students of our sister school.
