Students create their own adventures

How can polar bears live where most people can’t? Have you ever wondered if elephants brush their teeth? Were pirates heroes or “zeroes”? What do flying potatoes, disappearing Styrofoam, soaring toilet paper and exploding rockets have in common? These are just a few of the questions that students in grades one through six at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy answered recently as they participated in the school’s inaugural “Create Your Own Adventure” Day.

“Days like this that encourage a love of learning are important for faculty and students alike,” Koos said. “It creates genuine excitement and authentic learning. It also helps to build the school family.”

Shoes for Good

Spring Signing Day 2016

"National Signing Day turned out to be a big one for three Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy student-athletes."

Luca Campanini signed to play soccer at Florida Tech, Emily Morgan inked her name to a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Nova Southeastern, and Matt Austin agreed to join the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he will not only play baseball and football, but he will also follow his family’s tradition of serving in the military.

Tigers Claim District Title

Some things never get old … like holding a district championship trophy.

“Anytime you walk away with a trophy, it’s something you can look back on 10 years from now and show your family,” said Holy Trinity senior captain Luca Campanini, after the Tigers defeated The Pine School 4-0 in the Class 1A, District 10 title game Friday night.

It’s the third consecutive district championship for Holy Trinity (15-2-2), which will host District 9 runner-up All Saints Academy of Winter Haven in a regional quarterfinal Thursday night at 7.

Romeo and Juliet live

Romeo and Juliet"Romeo and Juliet are alive and well and living at Holy Trinity.

With a nod to Valentine’s Day, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy’s junior acting classes take a fresh and farcical look at Shakespeare’s greatest lovers, Romeo and Juliet, in “Romeo and Juliet Together (and Alive) at Last.”

The show, scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 29 and 30 at the Scott Center, features Edward Marr as Pete Saltz and Kathryn Welch as Anabell Stackpoole, two super-shy teens in love. Classmates try to bring together the wayward, star-crossed lovers with a performance of “Romeo and Juliet,” with, yes, you guessed it, Pete and Anabell in the title roles..."

Christmas in a Pack

Hundreds of homeless/needy gathered at Wells Park in December to await "Christmas in a Pack," the annual event that supplies backpacks full of goodies, which include a blanket, ponchos, toiletries, a McDonald’s gift card a lottery ticket and more.

Gift Drives for Children and Seniors

Holy Trinity students are spreading cheer again this year. In the spirit of the holiday season, the Spanish National Honor Society collected gifts for 70 children in Whispering Pines Child Development Center in Fellsmere. Additionally, in partnership with Aging Matters, HTEA’s National Junior Honor Society collected more than 100 holiday gifts for senior citizens.

Record Breaking!!

On Thursday, HTEA’s Lower School Students participated in the World Sport Stacking Association’s “Stack Up 2015” to help set a Guiness World Record for most people sport stacking at multiple locations in one day!

Holy Trinity students to perform first chamber opera

Nov. 7th Performance Marks Only the Third Presentation of the Chamber Opera in the World and the First Opera for Holy Trinity’s High School Choral Department.

It’s not often that Space Coast residents can enjoy live opera without traveling to Orlando or beyond, but on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m., patrons of the arts are in for a treat as Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy presents the chamber opera, “Evangeline,” composed by Vermont-based composer Gwyneth Walker.

Mr. Landi, Interim Head of School

Mr. Landi brings to the role more than 30 years experience in leading independent, private schools as well as significant classroom experience. During the period from 2002-2006 he served as Headmaster of The Salisbury School in Salisbury, Maryland. He returned to serve as Headmaster from the period of 2008 to 2013, During his tenure there he headed a capital campaign to build a new middle school, and increased enrollment by more than 20 percent.

Philanthropy Students are looking for a Worthy Cause!
HTEA Philanthropy Course

The Philanthropy Class announces they are soliciting proposals from area nonprofits that address the following priority needs: services that benefit children in need and creation care (environment).

The due date is Wednesday, December 9, 2015 and the maximum award will be $1,500. If you know of any area nonprofit serving south and central Brevard that might have an interest in submitting a proposal, please share the RFP with them. Please call Rev. Joy at x351 if you have any questions.

Science Fair Success

Brevard Intracoastal Science Fair Results

Daniele Farinella: Won first runner up for Best of Show for senior division, physical sciences. Placed first in the senior Earth and Planetary Science category with a bid to compete at the State Science Fair in Lakeland. Invited to participate in the Orlando Science Center competition, BroadCom Masters competition, and the 2015 Space Conference competition. Earned an award from the American Structural Materials Foundation.

Rahul Prasanna: Won Best of Show for junior division, biological sciences. Placed first in the junior Plant Science category with a bid to compete at the State Science Fair in Lakeland. Invited to participate in the BroadCom Masters competition and the 2015 Space Conference competition. Earned a free Manatee's ticket from the Healthy Living Fair and Doctor's Expo.

Isha Patel: Placed first in the junior Biochemistry category with a bid to compete at the State Science Fair in Lakeland. Invited to participate in the Orlando Science Center competition and the BroadCom Masters competition. Earned a certificate and cash award from the Doctor's Goodwill Foundation and a free Manatee's tickets from the Healthy Living Fair and Doctor's Expo.

Siddarth Ranganath: Placed third in the junior Plant Science category. Earned a free Manatee's ticket from the Healthy Living Fair and Doctor's Expo.

KeeLeigh Jenkins: Won a certificate and cash award from the Florida Science Teacher's Association. Earned a free Manatee's ticket from the Healthy Living and Doctor's Expo.

Colin McLaughlin: Earned the NASA Award for the junior division.

Katie Knobloch and Zach Ingram: Participated in the junior divisions in the environmental and engineering categories, respectively.

Please help us give a warm welcome to new Head Coaches, Scott Baker and Marc Bailey!

Coach Baker is the new Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Cross Country Head Coach, coming to use with almost 30 years of experience coaching a variety of sports from the elementary through collegiate levels. He is a lifelong teacher who excels in the process of teaching athletes the components to becoming a successful runner, providing feedback and helping athletes improve. Coach Baker will also be the assistant Track and Field coach along with Ally Pagan.
