The Bionic Tigers in the Alamo Regionals
4/1/2013
The Bionic Tigers attended the FIRST Alamo Regional robotics competition in San Antonio, Texas over Spring Break and finished 3rd out of 61 teams competing from around the United States, and Mexico. The Bionic Tigers were also awarded the Industrial Safety Award for using innovative ways to eliminate or protect against hazards, including the “Battery Lock Out” device (which has a patent pending) created by member Josh Rain. Further, the team was given special recognition for their efforts to “pay it forward” by helping another team whose robot was stolen a week before competition. Just as our team had received help at the Orlando Regional, our members were dedicated to assisting by providing spare parts, manpower, technical advice and software support which enabled this Mexican team to rebuild their robot and participate in the competition, and to actually advance in an alliance with us into the semifinals.
