Our remote learning program will provide a high level of support, direct instruction, and interaction for those families choosing this option. Remote instruction makes use of the approved HTEA Lower School curriculum and resources and is to be completed at the pace determined by the teacher to facilitate a seamless transition between in-person and remote learning.

  • Lower School Remote Learning Guidelines

    • Your child will be working from home; teachers will be working from campus unless campus wide closure is in effect.
    • Health permitting, remote learning students will participate in Google Meets and/or view recorded lessons of direct teacher instruction provided by classroom teachers and remote learning specialists in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, in alignment with approved HTEA Lower School curriculum and resources being used in the classroom.
    • Remote Learning Specialists are assigned to work with grade level cohorts of students enrolled in the remote learning program. Remote Learning Specialist are able to provide support and instruction to supplement direct instruction provided by the child’s classroom teacher(s). Lower School Remote Learning Specialists will use Google Meets to meet regularly with each grade level cohort. They will serve as a second line of support for students in the remote learning program.
    • Students will maintain contact with peers and teachers through Google Meets opportunities during the school day. See sample schedules below.
    • Children will submit completed work according to the teacher's determined deadlines. 
    • Teachers will provide timely feedback on assignments and maintain official records of student progress.
    • Suggested physical movement times (physical education and recess) are included in the daily schedule.
    • Families will have access to streaming chapel services and Character Education lessons.
    • Health permitting, remote learning students will engage with Enrichment content and activities provided to families.
    • Extracurricular and Before and After Care services are not offered until the child returns to school on campus. Remote learning students who wish to participate in athletics will need to communicate with Dereck Parker, Lower School Athletic Director, prior to starting practice and games.
