What do you look forward to most about teaching at Holy Trinity?
I look forward to getting a fresh start after 39 years in the public school system and seeing the differences between private and public schools. I am excited to start as I have heard nothing but fantastic comments over the years about Holy Trinity.
What is the most important life lesson you want a child to learn in your classroom?
Anyone can be good at math if they just do their homework and try. Why do something if you’re not going to give it your best effort?
How do you apply the latest technology in your class?
I believe that the invention of graphic calculators has helped explain math easier to students and you can work many problems at a faster rate and get a better understanding.
What experiences or people have had the most influence on you and how do you keep current with the subject areas you cover?
Benita Albert, an AP College Board Calculus guru, has influenced me the most. I have attended several of her weeklong training sessions and have been a presenter at two national AP conventions because of her. I also try to attend every math in-service I can during the year.
What has been your most memorable moment in teaching?
I have been able to maintain a 99 percent pass rate in AP Calculus over a 15-year period, with a 100 percent pass rate for eight of those years.
