Project RELIEF

Senior Megan Mullen was just one of the students who participated and ultimately made a big difference in the community. She not only created this video showcasing Joe's Club and Project RELIEF (Respite for Elders Living in Everyday Families), she also raised money for vital improvements to the facility.

Megan explained, "My video for Project Relief was inspired by my desire to get involved with Joe's Club, which is an adult daycare center that is near and dear to my heart and family. I requested a meeting with the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, which created Joe’s Club, and they fell in love with my ideas. I could not wait to get started. With a list full of questions jotted down in my notebook, I began interviewing caregivers and volunteers to share their stories about how they assist Alzheimer’s patients within their homes every day."

Additionally, said Megan. "My grandma pledged $1,000 to give the facility a better garden and patio area, which we named 'Papa Tom’s Garden,' in honor of my grandfather. By creating a donation drive on my website, I got money and goods donated to help support the facility. I had always been involved in my community, but this particular project hit closer to home and impacted my family. "

Way to go, Megan!
