Lower School Guidance

As stated in our mission, the School Counseling Department works to deliver a comprehensive developmental program addressing the academic, career and personal/social growth of all students.
The knowledge, attitudes and skills that students acquire in the areas of academic, personal/social development during these elementary years serve as the foundation for future success.

Lower School Counseling Department focuses on:

Encouraging personal growth and social development by:
  • Developing life-long interpersonal skills
  • Fostering a sense of respect for self and others
  • Guiding students in ethical decision making
  • Teaching valuable goal setting and problem solving skills
  • Using small group counseling to address various counseling topics throughout the year

Preparing students for future career choices by:
  • Encouraging career exploration
  • Communicating the relationship between personal qualities, academic achievement and career success

Helping students meet their academic goals by:
  • Coursework communicating the relationship between academic success and future opportunities
  • Teaching valuable time management and organizational skills
  • Encouraging students to build a relationship with their teachers
  • Understanding and applying their unique learning styles to achieve academic success
