Character Education

Character Education

Character Education is reinforced throughout all aspects of school life with the goal of students assuming responsibility for their own behavior and learning.

Holy Trinity is committed to providing a nurturing environment that fosters kindness, respect and love for students, faculty, staff, and families regardless of gender, race, social economic status or religion.

Character Education Through Community Service

Learned values from the Character Education Program are put into action through participation in outreach programs that support a variety of community needs and address issues affecting the most needy of our world’s population. Service Learning encourages students to develop an enthusiasm for serving their local communities, as well as the addressing global needs. Many projects have led to connections that not only continue through college but turn into jobs or internships. Holy Trinity graduates are engaged citizens who will make a difference in our ever changing world.

The Character Education theme for the 2017-2018 school year is "Choose to be Kind." Last year, our Character Ed classes collected food for approximately 30 needy families at Thanksgiving; made 65 gallons of soup for patrons of the Daily Bread Ministries at the school's annual Souper Bowl℠ of Caring; sent cards to the men and women in the Armed Forces; made blankets and filled backpacks for the homeless; and made cards for students at Holy Trinity's sister school, St. Sacrement, in Haiti.

The overall theme for the year and the Character Education classes continue at the Upper School in the junior high, and all Upper School students are encouraged to join clubs and service organizations to participate in giving back to the community and reaching out to others. Our Upper School students fed 40 families at Thanksgiving, collected Christmas gifts for senior citizens and migrant children, collected supplies for Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, and donated cozy pajamas and bedtime reading books to families in our community.
The entire school community – trustees, faculty, staff, parents, students and alumni – works to develop a perspective that embraces diversity and enhances global awareness. Our Diversity Coordinator promotes an educational community that embraces a variety of ethnic customs, cultures, and thought processes to enhance the learning experience. Holy Trinity welcomes students from all backgrounds and countries. We believe our International Program helps students deepen their understanding of people who have different views of the world while instilling in them a new respect for others.
