Holy Trinity’s tagline is: “Start Here. Go Anywhere.” How do you envision helping students to live this motto?
I can help students live this motto by helping them overcome any obstacle and demonstrating that they can do what they set their mind to.
How do you inspire a student who has a hard time with your subject area?
First, I build a positive relationship with my students and let them know I care about what they might be having difficulty with. Then I will reach out and offer them help so they see for themselves that they can do it. We will work in different ways to find what works best for the student. This builds self-esteem and breaks down those walls that hindered their ability to understand.
What do you love about teaching?
I love to see when students realize they have understood, learned and now own what they had been attempting to learn. I love to see the happiness and sense of accomplishment on their faces when they realize this. It makes them want more.
What do you want your students to take away from being your class?
I want my students to remember that what they learn in our class is applicable to them now and in the future.
What has been your most memorable teaching moment?
My most memorable teaching moment was when I realized I had a student with an undiagnosed learning disability and I was able to find a way to help him.
What are some of your interests and passions outside of the classroom?
One of my passions is reading. I like to get a little reading in every day, especially in the morning with my coffee when the house is quiet. I also love art in all of its forms. I love to look at it and admire it as well as creating. I’m currently taking watercolor classes.
