I believe that it is important to build a strong foundation for children to stand on as they grow and mature. This foundation begins in the early years and is strengthened and reinforced with each year that goes by. I believe it is my job to challenge my students to not only reach their goals but to surpass them. By building character and instilling confidence in my students, it is my goal that they will go anywhere in life that they desire.
What do you look forward to the most about teaching at Holy Trinity?
The first time I walked onto the campus at Holy Trinity I knew that this school was different. Everyone I met was kind and greeted me with a smile. I could tell that working here was a joy for them. It is important to have this type of atmosphere because it sets the tone for the students as well. Creating a safe and loving environment for learning to take place is important to me. I look forward to teaching with high quality educators that care for each and every student that walks into their classroom.
What motivated you to become a teacher?
As a child, I always loved to pretend I was a teacher and had my own classroom. I would spend hours doing this with my friends or stuffed animals. When it came time to choose my career path, it was a very easy decision for me. I am a nurturer. I love working with children and getting the chance to unlock the potential that is inside them. It is a joy for me to be able to invest in the lives of children and help them reach their goals.
What are some of your interests and passions outside of the classroom?
I love to read in my spare time. There is nothing like a good book to transport you to another place and time. I enjoy anything that involves being outside. My family loves to go on hiking and camping adventures every chance we can get.
What do you want your students to take away from being in your class?
I want each of my students to leave my classroom feeling like they are loved, valued for who they are and prepared for the next grade ahead. By teaching and modeling organizational and study skills, I know that my students will be ready for the next step. I want my students to walk away from my class knowing that they had given their best and had a fun time while doing it.
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received or could receive as a teacher?
The best compliment that I have received as a teacher came from a former student who contacted me, after graduating from college, to let me know she had become a teacher. She told me that I was her favorite teacher growing up because I made learning fun and exciting.
