Holy Trinity’s tagline is: “Start Here. Go Anywhere.” How do you envision helping students to live this motto?
By being the best teacher and role model I can be, I hope to help my students realize that in becoming the best version of themselves, they can be anything they truly wish to be.
How do you inspire students to enjoy learning?
I become a role model for them. My love of math is contagious.
What do you want your students to gain from having known you?
I hope that my students gain the knowledge of what a positive male role model is, for the boys to become nothing less and for the girls to expect nothing less.
What do you want your students to take away from being in your class?
That life is good and learning is fun!
If teaching was not your first professional career, what was? How did you transition into teaching?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. I loved it and was pretty good. However, as an intern, it was not nearly as fulfilling as I thought it would be. I had the opportunity to teach math at my parish school in Miami and decided to try it out. I fell in love with it. For me, teaching made me feel that what I did mattered in a way that architecture didn’t.
What is the best compliment you’ve ever received or could receive as a teacher?
How much of a difference I have made or am making in a student’s life. This has been a repeat experience for me in my 21 years of teaching.
