Fifth and Sixth Grade Reading
Education: Bachelors in Elementary Education, Rollins College
What motivated you to become a teacher?
I first decided I wanted to be a teacher in fourth grade. My teacher, Mrs. Terry, was an amazing inspiration to me. She had a way of making learning fun and exciting. Every day I left her class, I felt loved, safe, and cared for. I strive every day to have my students walk out of my classroom feeling the same way.
What professional development activities have you participated in recently?
I attend the FETC (Future of Education Technology conference) every year. I always come back overloaded with ideas for my classroom and suggestions for my fellow faculty members.
What was your first paying job?
My first paying job was at Galaxy Skateway. I worked there for six years and learned all the positions: rink guard, snack bar, and yes, even DJ! My last two years I worked as a manager.
What do you love about teaching at HTEA?
The best part about teaching at Holy Trinity is that I feel like I am home with family. I enjoy walking into school and seeing smiling faces, receiving warm hugs, and knowing we all truly care for each other.
How do you apply the latest technology in your classroom?
I integrate technology a great deal into my everyday teaching. I incorporate things such as: PowerPoints, iPads, Mimio activities, QR codes, and research to name a few. I also share information, photos, and videos on my professional Facebook page.
