Fighting for America: A Poem for Our Veterans

By Madelyn Hassey, HT Lower School Student
“Our veterans accepted the responsibility to defend America and uphold our values when duty called” - Bill Shuster

America will never forget the great sacrifices that veterans have made for our freedom and for our country. We honor the brave people today who fought so we can live in the land of the free. Today is the most important holiday, Veterans Day.  The day we reflect and honor all the heroes who have been in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the Marines. We also pay respect for the heroes who have unselfishly sacrificed their lives for our freedom. It is because of the veterans that we can be thankful to wake up every morning in a free country!

Throughout history, countless Americans fought and died for us to have this freedom. Our country was born from a dream of freedom. A dream that veterans made true! Our veterans are a huge part of our country’s strength. We wouldn’t be the amazing United States of America without them fighting for America.

We are grateful for all the veterans that have served our country.  America will always remember the veterans and the brave heroes who have died for our freedom. Each one will forever be honored and loved for generations to come. Thank you, veterans, for fighting for America, the home of the free because of the brave!
