Speech and Debate
HT Speech and Debate kicked off their year at the Yale Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament and more recently competed at their first regional tournament of the year.
The Yale Invitational was attended by 1500 of the best competitors from 23 states and this was the first time that Holy Trinity attended this prestigious event.
We had several HT students competing: Michael Tomadakis and Jake Vigeant in Varsity Public Forum Debate, Priya Gutta and Faz Zaidi in JV Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Brianna Ramnath in Original Oratory. All of our students had personal victories upon which they will build towards later successes in the season. Of special note is Priya Gutta who advanced past the preliminary rounds to the Octafinals. She also placed as the #5 best speaker in JV Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Last weekend, HT competed at at Lake Mary High School for our first regional tournament of the year. Priya Gutta was awarded 3rd place in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Fefe Montalvo and Faz Zaidi won 3 out of 4 debate rounds and ranked 6th overall in Novice Public Forum Debate and Brianna Ramnath placed 2nd in 3 of her 4 rounds and ranked 5th overall in Varsity Original Oratory.
