For Our Safety Update

Two weeks ago, we launched the For Our Safety campaign to raise funds to help us upgrade our existing cameras, gates, badging systems and security staffing on both the Lower and Upper School campuses.
To date, we have raised $30,000, including a generous gift of $15,000 from Georgianna United Methodist Church, but we still need your help.

We know that the safety of your children and grandchildren is of the utmost importance to you, therefore, we are moving forward with security improvements in good faith that we will meet our fundraising goal by the end of April.

Yesterday, we signed an agreement with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Sheriff Wayne Ivey to provide a dedicated deputy sheriff to work full-time as a school resource officer at the Upper School. While we have partnered with BCSO for more than a year in this regard, we are the first private school in Brevard County to sign a formal agreement to retain a full-time school resource officer assigned to Holy Trinity to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce that we have hired our second Safety & Security Officer for the Lower School, Mr. Brandon Lape. Mr. Lape started work with us on Monday and will partner with Mr. Kevin Skope so that we may maintain a constant security presence from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. while students are on campus.

Mr. Lape comes to us with more than 15 years’ experience as an active duty member of the United States Air Force and is currently a reservist with the 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base (PAFB). Most recently, he served as Law Enforcement Supervisor and Facility Manager at PAFB, where he provided protection to more than 50,000 personnel as well as the base’s space support assets. He holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Administration from Barry University as well as an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice.

During his military deployments, Mr. Lape dedicated his spare time to raising money to build schools and orphanages in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is the recipient of numerous military awards and commendations.

Mr. Skope and Mr. Lape will work cooperatively with the Brevard County sheriff’s deputy and will provide oversight at both campuses as needed.  It is the intent of school leadership that all security personnel will be armed and will hold the appropriate certifications and licensures.

Once again, we ask for your support as we continue to raise the necessary funds to enhance our level of safety and security at both campuses. Please consider making a gift online today by visiting: www.htacademy.org/foroursafety.
