Pre-Med Club visits Holmes Regional Medical Center

Last week, Mr. Chiarella's Pre-Med Club visited Holmes Regional Medical Center for a special learning experience, "A Night in the OR" presented by Brevard Physician Associates (BPA) in conjunction with Health First. Fifteen aspiring medical students from Holy Trinity, along with students from other area high schools, participated in the event, in which they had the opportunity to learn from general surgeons and anesthesiologists who provided them with an introduction to operating room procedures and techniques. Among the topics included were the basics of anesthetic airway management, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, laparoscopic procedures, general surgery and robotic surgery. Special thanks to club president, Zoha Irfan, for taking photos and to club vice president, Sabrina Webb, for coordinating logistics of the trip, as her father, Dr. Webb, was one of the principle doctors involved.
