25th Annual Evening of Elegance to Benefit School’s Academic Merit Scholarship Fund

Fundraising Gala to be Held at Merritt Island Estate of Ed and Cheryl Scott
On Saturday, March 11, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will celebrate its 25th annual Evening of Elegance fundraising gala. The event, themed “A Night in Old Florida,” will be held at “Lotus Lake,” the South Tropical Trail property of Mr. and Mrs. Ed and Cheryl Scott, from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Scotts are well known for their generous contributions to the Brevard County community, particularly their donations to fund The Scott Center for Worship & the Performing Arts at Holy Trinity’s Upper School and The Scott Center for Autism Treatment at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), as well as many other philanthropic endeavors throughout the United States and the world.  They are the parents of Holy Trinity alumnus, Reece Scott, class of 2007, and Mr. Scott is a former Holy Trinity trustee.

“A Night in Old Florida” will unfold at twilight on the Scott’s secluded waterfront property, where guests may enjoy beautiful views of the Indian River. Co-chairs for the Evening of Elegance, Holy Trinity parents, Mrs. Colleen Middlebrooks and Mrs. Michelle Shoultz, promise attendees a fun-filled and relaxed evening in “Florida Formal” style, featuring gourmet Florida-inspired cuisine provided by Florida Tech’s assistant director of dining services, Evan Olsen and Chef de Cuisine Jon Skoviera; bar service including beer, wine, liquor and signature “Old Florida” themed cocktails provided by The Broken Barrel Tavern; live Top 40 hits played by the South Florida-based Wonderama Band; dancing under the stars; a live auction; “choice raffle drawing;” and more.  For a suggested donation of $100, guests may participate in the choice raffle drawing, in which the winner may choose a prize of either $10,000, one year of Holy Trinity tuition (for currently enrolled students only) or a custom golf cart. Participants in the choice auction do not need to be present at the gala to win. Only 500 tickets will be sold.

The master of ceremonies for the evening is Mr. Bino Campanini, vice president of alumni affairs for FIT, executive director of the FIT alumni association, and father of Holy Trinity students, Gianluca, class of 2016, and Carlo, class of 2018.

All proceeds from the event will go toward Holy Trinity’s Academic Merit Scholarship program, now in its second year.  Last year’s Evening of Elegance raised $130,000 and funded scholarships for 12 new academically advanced students in grades 7-12 who do not have the financial means to support a Holy Trinity education. This year, the scholarship has been extended to include students in grades 5-12.  While the scholarship program is only open to new students, currently enrolled students who qualify for financial assistance will continue to receive those benefits. In the first semester of 2016, the recipients of the Academic Merit Scholarship collectively earned a 3.94 weighted grade point average and participated in a variety of clubs and activities. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $150,000. Learn more about the Academic Merit Scholarship.

“The implementation of the Academic Merit Scholarship has provided a dozen extraordinarily bright young people with the opportunity to attend Holy Trinity and to better their academic futures,” said Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy headmaster, James G. Landi. “We are also keenly aware that in just a short time, these students have had a tremendously positive impact on our school as well. It is my sincere hope that we may meet and exceed our fundraising goal this year to be able to expand this worthwhile program to additional students who, like those selected last year, demonstrate strong moral character, outstanding academic ability, and financial need.”

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the event and range from $1,000 to $10,000. Sponsor benefits include inclusion in all event promotions and advertising materials, including the Holy Trinity website, social media and sponsor banners at both Holy Trinity campuses.
